Adopt-a-Highway

Adopt-a-Highway allows approved groups* to volunteer and directly support an anti-litter program in Marathon County.

What can your group accomplish by participating?

• Reduce litter along Marathon County highways
• Build statewide support for the anti-litter and highway beautification programs
• Educate the traveling public to properly dispose of litter
• Enhance the environment and beautify Marathon County’s roadsides
• Gain recognition for your efforts

*Partisan political groups, defined as “groups of people with common political opinions and purposes organized for gaining political influence and governmental control, and for directing government policies,” are not allowed to participate in Adopt-a-Highway.

Adopt-a-Park

This volunteer program is open to individuals, families and large groups (such as businesses or service clubs). When you adopt a city or county park, you agree to visit that site at least once every two weeks between May 1 and October 31 each year. Adopt-a-Park volunteers look for weather damage, vandalism, maintenance issues, or anything out of the ordinary at the site. Picking up litter and conducting park maintenance is not required! Each visit helps us respond quickly to problems so that we keep these public spaces clean and safe.

Health Field Emergency Volunteers

Wisconsin Emergency Assistance Volunteer Registry (WEAVR) is a tool for collecting a list of people in the health field who are willing to serve in emergencies.

The goal of WEAVR is to have a list of volunteers and a way to contact them before an emergency so that they can quickly be used where they are needed. Please visit weavrwi.org to find out more and to sign up.
