The following County Paving and Bridge Projects are planned for the 2026 Construction Season: Additional details or schedule updates will be posted on the County’s Road Construction Announcements and Traffic Bulletins at www.marathoncounty.gov/511 when available.
County Road XX from Business 51 to CTH X and County Road X from Wood Rd to County Road XX
- Construction is scheduled to begin around May 11, 2026, and is anticipated to be completed by the end of June.
- The top layer of asphalt will be removed and paved with a new surface.
- Storm inlets and curb & gutter will be repaired or replaced as needed.
- During construction, the road will be reduced to one lane in each direction and speed limit reduced to 25 mph to provide better safety for drivers, workers and access from side streets.
- Along the curve between Whispering Pine and Rainbow Drives, rumble strips will be installed at the centerline and edge of the asphalt shoulder to improve safety.
- New pavement marking will also be completed.
- Drivers should expect delays and will be driving on grooved surfaces during construction. Please use alternate routes if possible.
- A detour route is not planned for the project.
County Road X from County Road XX to Howland Avenue
- Construction is scheduled to begin around May 4, 2026, and is anticipated to be completed in mid-June.
- Crews will recycle the existing asphalt into a gravel base course and pave a new surface with gravel shoulders.
- Along the curve between Crystal View Drive and Pleasant Drive, rumble strips will be installed at the centerline and edge of the asphalt shoulder to improve safety.
- Prior to paving operations, the road will have a gravel surface which may result in rough driving conditions at times.
- The project will be posted as Road Closed - Local Traffic Only. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses, but drivers should expect delays.
- A detour route is not planned for the project.
County Road NN from Marathon City 4th Street to the Village of Rib Mountain County Road R
- Construction is anticipated to begin in mid-June and is anticipated to be completed in mid-July.
- The top layer of asphalt will be removed and repaved with a new surface and gravel shoulders.
- At the intersection of Redwing Road, crews will recycle the existing asphalt into a gravel base course and pave with new asphalt and gravel shoulders.
- The project will be posted as Road Closed – Local Traffic Only.Access will be maintained for residents and businesses.
- Drivers should expect delays and will be driving on grooved and graveled surfaces during construction. Please use alternate routes if possible.
- A detour route is not planned for the project.
County Road F from County Road N to State Highway 29
- Crews will recycle the existing asphalt into a gravel base course and place a new asphalt surface.
- Prior to paving operations, the road will have a gravel surface which may result in rough driving conditions at times.
- Road work is anticipated to begin early July and be completed in early August.
- The project will be posted as Road Closed - Local Traffic Only. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses, but drivers should expect delays.
- A detour route is not planned for this project.
County Road F from County Road C to County Road P
- Crews will recycle the existing asphalt into an asphalt stabilized base course and cover it with a new asphalt surface.
- Prior to paving operations, the asphalt stabilized base will have a curing period of two to four weeks.
- Road work is anticipated to begin in early July and be completed by early September.
- The project will be posted as Road Closed - Local Traffic Only. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses, but drivers should expect delays.
- A detour route is not planned for this project.
Bridge Projects
The following bridges are planned to be replaced during the 2026 construction season. Schedules are to be determined and will be posted on the County’s Road Construction Announcements and Traffic Bulletins when available.
- Abe Lincoln Ave, Town of Eau Pleine - Carlson Creek between Eau Pleine Rd and State Highway 153
- County Highway P - Fenwood Creek between Holdman Rd and Redwood St
- County Highway U – Little Rib River between Sunnyvale Ln and N 76th Ave
- County Highway J – Eau Claire River between Callon Ave and River Rd
- County Highway J – Trappe River between Trappe Rd and County Rd G/River Hills Rd
- County Highway HH – Spring Brook - between W Bear Lake Rd and Brookside Rd
