The Regulatory Programs division of the Conservation, Planning, and Zoning Department  administers the County’s zoning, shoreland, floodplain, airport, private onsite wastewater treatment system (POWTS), and mining ordinances. These ordinances are administered and enforced county-wide except for comprehensive zoning which must be approved by the towns before becoming effective.

PLEASE NOTE: We encourage customers to call ahead and schedule an appointment if they would like to meet with one of our regulatory staff. We continue to serve walk-ins to the best of our ability, based on staffing availability at that moment. However, if you would like a guarantee that you can meet with a staff member when you come to our office, please set up an appointment.
